Privacy Policy — Browser Extension

Cognitive Atoms — capture · Last updated 14 August 2026

The extension does not collect your data. Nothing is sent to us, and we operate no server that receives anything from it. It talks only to Cognitive Atoms running on your own computer.

What it does

The extension does two things, both only when you ask:

It never sends anything for you

The extension does not press Send. Text is placed in the message box and stops there. You read it and send it yourself, or you don't. If it cannot place the text, it tells you and offers to copy it to your clipboard instead — it does not fail silently.

You review the exact text inside Cognitive Atoms before anything is carried anywhere.

What we collect

Nothing. No personally identifiable information, health, financial, authentication, personal-communications, location, browsing-history, or user-activity data. No account. No sign-in. No analytics. No telemetry. No advertising. No tracking of any kind.

We do not sell or transfer your data, because we never receive it.

Permissions, and why each exists

PermissionWhy
activeTabActs on the tab you are looking at, only after you click something.
storageRemembers local retry state if a capture fails. It does not store prepared context.
ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini pagesFinds the message box on those pages so reviewed text can be placed there after you choose to carry it.
127.0.0.1, localhostTalks to Cognitive Atoms on your own computer. This is the only place your captures go.

The extension requests no scripting permission, so it cannot inject code into pages dynamically. Writing to a provider's message box happens only from a declared content script, and only after you explicitly choose a destination.

AI providers

When you carry context into ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini, you are using your own account with that provider. Anything you then choose to send is governed by that provider's privacy policy, which we neither control nor can speak for. We recommend reading theirs.

The extension does not hold, use, or transmit any provider API key.

Remote code

None. All code is contained in the published package. The extension loads no external scripts and evaluates no remote code.

Children

The extension is not directed to children and collects no data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes to what the extension does will be described in its changelog.
